Mid Michigan Derby Girls’ Snow Brawl to Benefit Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP – In an effort to help fellow nonprofit organizations during this challenging economic time, Mid Michigan Derby Girls are committed to donating funds or collecting items for a charity at every home game.
The Mid Michigan Derby Girls will host its first ever Snow Brawl to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 in the hockey rink at Skateland Arena, 8460 N. Dort Highway in Mount Morris Township. Public may enter at 6 p.m. for seating. Admission costs $6.
One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the food bank. A one dollar donation allows the food bank to purchase 9 pounds of food. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.brownpapertickets.com or at the door.
Mid Michigan Derby Girls will face Indianapolis team The Warning Belles of Naptown Roller Girls. The Mid Michigan Derby Girls will explain how the game is played and throughout the evening a skater will be available to members of the press for any questions about roller derby or the league. The head of non-skating league members will be available to anyone interested in joining the league as a non-skater or volunteer. Naptown Roller Girls and Mid Michigan Derby Girls will also sale merchandise during the game.
The Mid Michigan Derby Girls are dedicated to athleticism, community involvement and cultivating the unique sport of roller derby in the mid-Michigan area. The league has skaters from Genesee, Saginaw, Oakland and Livingston counties and is always accepting new skaters from the surrounding areas.
